RE: Stock Internals
NitrousJunkie101: Yo, what would you say is the most whp you would put through a stock internal DSM?
NitrousJunkie101: most...safely
NitrousJunkie101: TE says 450.... i think hes insane
E Monz57: I would prob not go higher than 425 daily
NitrousJunkie101: That guy with the red talon started to have rod knock at 425
E Monz57: They can handle 450 but I wouldnt
E Monz57: low oil pressure. crank walk
NitrousJunkie101: ok thanks... im just going to C&P this.
NitrousJunkie101: hahahaha no ****!
Ok that i agree with. It will handle 425.... but its extremely unpredictable.

RE: Stock Internals
The 6 bolt internals have been rumored tobe capable of 500chp.
The 7 bolt internals have been rumored to be capable of 450chp.
Neither one of the figures are concrete for every motor because of the common variables. The history of the car will most often dictate it's capability. This was an old huge topic on Tuners back in the day. Would I risk it? Not if I had beat up internals and my motor wasn't running as good as it should be.
Here's a couple threads on it from Tuners..(you know what to do)

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/show...ht=stock+power - 2g tranny
Talk has even ventured in on this question..

I'm sure there's more over at Talk, but there's just too much talk to bother searching for it anymore.
So, to reiterate, know the history of the motor/tranny. To be on the safe side, I wouldn't recommend anything over 450 crank horsepower in either motor on a rebuilt stock motor (I hate wasting money) and I wouldn't recommend anything over 400 crank horsepower on a good running tired motor. Some other factors include supporting mods and budget. Don't take these numbers to heart if you are cheap, use cheap parts, , don't fully support the motor, or do things half assed. It's just not in anyone's best judgement to expect those numbers with a crappy, tired, unknown history, and leaking motor.

RE: Stock Internals
I'm definantly not going to half-*** this job. I've wanted a GSX or TSI awd for so long and now I've finally got so I'm gonna do it right. I'm gonna do extensive research and make sure I use the all the necessary supporting mods and the best parts I can get/afford. From what I've figured so far owning a dsm is an expensive habit.

RE: Stock Internals
Far less expensive than most : )
I have to say, you picked a good habit.
You seem like a smart enough guy, i think you will be ok. Most people that go into this have no clue.. and end up selling their cars as "Project" cars.

RE: Stock Internals
Well I did some research and listened to you guys so I have an understanding of what its gonna take to finish this, at least somewhat of an understanding anyway. And I've waited far to long for this to ever quit. I will have a 425 whp honda destroying awd dsm!!!
