Default strange black box under passenger seat...

First off, I have a 98 Spyder GS-T. Does anyone know what this box is? I am thinking it has something to do with the cd changer in the trunk since there is a plug beside it that also appears behind the radio and there is a connection for it on the factory radio. When I plugged in the cable to the box the interior lights started to flash. I unplugged it and they stopped flashing. The CD changer has power, but I cannot get it to play anything. If someone could help me out with this. The only thing I can find on the box is what looks like a part #, 092565.

Does it have the infinity symbol on it? Not sure on the Spyder, but in the hard top, the amplifier is under tha passenger seat.

That's why I started out thinking it had something to do with the cd changer. Either way, if it goes to either of these it is useless now since the CD changer plugs into the factory radio and I don't see the point in buying an adapter and I no longer have the factory radio in there, it has an Alpine HU in it for now and probably a Pioneer GPS one coming soon, so if its an amp or brain box for the factory audio system it can go and make way for something better than the Pioneer I've looked at.

I just bought a 95 Montero with the same sort black box under the driver's seat. It's got an aftermarket fancy-smancy cd unit in the dash so I'm pretty sure it's an amp, although to be honest I didn't give it too much of my attention.

Probably an amp, in your case.

hmmm, are there any #s engraved to the box? I know mine has some on the front side, but because the seats sit so low in the car, I can't see all of the box....I wonder if the dealer will actually tell me what it is....they haven't been too helpful so far though.
