thrust bearing failure/crankwalk quick question

alright so first let me say thanks for those who have helped me in previous post, and i promise you this is my last newbie type question before buying. after finally do more research last night, i found out about crank walking for this car. i was very suprised after doing all the research and now only hearing about this issue, anyways im sort of now more hesitant at buying one, but still do want one. so ive done alot of research and its a very small percentage that can get it. my question is though if i am looking at a gsx with close to or above 100,000 miles with no history of repairs, symptoms of having this issue, is it safe to say that i will most likely be clear of this issue, or can it happen at any time. i would also like to know if mitsubishi has made a clear actual fix if i do run into the problem down the road and what kind of cost would i possibly be looking at? thanks again

its something that can happen any time, but on a car like that its alot less likely if you just take care of it. mostly modded ones with have it happen that are beaten to crap. There is no clear fix, you would basically need a lower end rebuild on the block if it happens. I wouldnt get to crazy about it though.

You could always look for one w/ a 6 bolt swap.

thanks for the input. i heard it something that can happen but shouldnt worry if i know how the car was maint and normal basic car knowledge.
