timing belt

i just did mine timing belt and now my car only idels about 100 rpms could this be beacuse i have the timing of one notch because when i changed it it looked like there were to marks on the crank shaft. i have all of the marks at tdc except for the crank i am just guessing that the big notch is the tdc mark anybody know what i am talking about

o and a picture of what that mark might look like if anybodys got it

If you go to vfaq.com they have a complete wirte up w/ pics. If the timing is off 1 tooth you'll have a rough idle.

It sounds like your timing is off, I would reccomend checking all of your timing marks (CAMs, crank, balance shaft) if you only did your timing belt then that Has to be the problem

With the crank, its actually on that metal plate behind the gear..

RE: timing belt

well when i did it my head gasket was leaking so i figured while i was there i would replace the timing belt water pump and balence shaft belt( which was actually all f'ed up in there) i know the head gasket isnt leaking so if it was off on mark that would cause it to run at low rpms. i know when i set it up the cams, bal saf, and oil was all lined up perfectaly but the crank i couldnt figure out.

I would most definently not run the car ANYMORE if you have no idea where the balence shaft is in terms of timing. Look on that Vfaq page and pick up a repair manual at the auto parts store. All of the timings HAVE to be perfect.

RE: timing belt

Can you post pics of the timing marks on the timing belt and balance shaft belt? You probably have the b/s off. And just like dorian7 said checkvfaq.com and make sure you have the b/s timed right and not off 180*.
