Tranny Problems....no 2nd or 4th gear

Hi all.........

I have a 1990..1st Gen Eclipse ...2.0...automatic and boy It seems I cant win for losing with this Tranny problem. I have no 2nd or fourth gear and when I hit the od button....od off.....it stays in 3rd......od on it goes to first and tries to shift but only winds out. I have replaced the tranny....from a junk yard....replaced the tcu...the pulse generator sensors ....and the ecu. It still has the same problem. I took it to Aamco they said to take it to the dealer because it seemed to be electrical or computer problems. Mitsubishi said it is the tranny .....the electronics inside ....and that I should replace it. I am back to square one. tcu codes are as follows.........52 , 53, 54 , and 55 and 57 . What the heck are codes 55 and 57?

I am lost . Any input would be greatly appreciated.!! Thanx.

Hey, if you find out what the problem is, could you e-mail me? jessagriffin@aol.com

Problem seems similar to one I'm having with my '92 Eclipse.

you can find out what those codes are just buy going to autozone and looking at a haynes auto manual it has all computer codes in it. It cost like $20 but if you just want to know the codes don't buy it just look in it. The book is a complete teardown and rebuild of your car.

Hey all,

I appreciate the replies.....although I still havent figured it out. I have replaced the tranny twice now.....same thing.....so it cant be the tranny. the codes keep coming up the same and everything indicated has been either replaced or checked. Anybody with any other comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks.
