Default turbo on my gs

ok I was looking around for a Turbo to start saving up for and hope to have it in a month or two from now. I was looking at a star stage 2 turbo. My questions is to those of you who have boosted for GS's. What am i in for if i want to do the work my self. Are there any docs on a detailed installation method or things i should watchout for. stuff like that

p.s. only a few days on the forum and already i know that SpyderGS rules around here

Yeah, hey! You got a Spyder GS too, huh? Well, check it out, there are no ready made kits for our engines. The Star Kit that you may have seen on Overboost or some other store is totally incorrect. It won't bolt up at all, they meant it only for the hardtop non-turbos. Their marketing department screwed up and now they refuse to refund quite a few people who have bought it. The tiny print says that there is "some fabrication required", but you'll need to spend another $2000 to get it to fit right. Not cool at all. No one has made a turbo kit for our cars yet...and i don't suspect anyone will for some time. However, there is a silver lining. There's always a good side. And nobody 'cept us Spyder GS ownersreally knows it, or cares i guess. You see all those turbos and manifolds and heads and crap that can go onto the GST or GSX? Well, they bolt straight up to our cars. Drop right in. No modification required. We share almost the same block as the turbo cars, so the engines are very very similiar....ours is biggg and SOHC. Plus since we do have a bigger engine than the turbo cars( 1997cc to 2351cc, or 2.0 liters to 2.4 liters. 20% more displacement), we can spool turbos quicker and make more power sooner than them. Cool, huh? But it gets better. When Mitsu created the Spyder, they didn't want it to be all flexible like other convertibles(celica convertible, mustang convertible, camaro convertible). So they used the strongest Chassis they had to build the spyder. And that chassis was the GSX All Wheel Drive chassis! If you're not in the know, that means that by swapping trannys and getting the rear end from a gsx...you can make an AWD Spyder! Now that's cool. And it's getting cheaper now that people are wrapping their GSX's around tree's and walls and crap. So it's pretty cool. It's kinda cheap to make your own turbo kit(like i'm doing)using quality parts. If have any questions, i'd be more than happy to answer them. So far i've done the DOHC swap and ECU swapon my car....and it's great

Those kits most likely won't bolt up. The FAQs part says that he can't gaurantee that the kit's will bolt up(although on the description it says that it does), he says that some fabrication required. Kinda fishy, but looks like his version of a disclaimer. A good kit to look for is a complete t3/t4 kit for the eclipse turbo cars. That kitwill come with a manifold and downpipe, upgraded injectors, and maybe even an fmic. It won't come with everything, but it will come with the most important things. Now, for the AWD conversion, you don't even need to switch anything in the engine. Even in stock form, if you had the tranny and drivetrain parts, you could just bolt them up right now and have an awd spyder. It'll only be 141hp....and feel like a pig....but it's still awd!!! You don't need any engine modification to do the AWD swap...save for an AWD exhaust. Now, your best bet is to find a wrecked GSX or TSi AWD. You can only use 2g parts, and it's best if you get a car the exact same year as yours. Mitsu changed minor things throughout the years, so to avoid any discrepancies just try and get the same year as your spyder. Sounds hard....but you'll be able to find one.

I Don't have a Spyder GS, but a 98 Eclipse GS, Burg color, sunroof, DHOC engine, with a Dragon Z Wide Body Kit. Unfortunetly I don't have a Turbo, but I've been wanting to. Is there By any chance a way that those turbo kits will fit my car?

98, you gotta upload a pic of your car, widebody kits are sweet. Anyways, some of those kits don't bolt up to your car. However, you have a lot of choices if you want forced induction. You can go to Hahn RaceCraft and they have premade kits that come with a warranty. The Star Kit that we mentioned previously will fit your car, but it's quality is decent at best. Recently, there was a supercharger kit made for the 95-99 non-turbo hardtops, so that might be something you might wanna look out for. There's quite a few turbo kits available, and many are under the $2500 mark. They're all fairly upgradeable too.

Forget the convertible, go T-Top. Hardly anybody has a T-Top Eclipse.Anyways, mitsu contracted an American company to convert thehardtops toconvertibles. I'm not sure of the company name, however the prices for a custom job range from$4500- $7000.Prices reflect dependability and life.
