turbo timer and boost controller

hey guys, i'm going to pick up my new 98 GSX next weekend, it's already got engine work done to it but doesn't have boost controller or turbo timer. I'm looking at Greddy Profec B Spec 2 boost controller - the cheapest i've found it is 290. And the Greddy Full Auto Timer - the cheapest i've found is 110 (with the harness) does anybody know where to find cheaper or do these sound like good deals???? thanks

you dont need a Turbo Timer that is a waiste of money really just let it idle yourself before shutting it off, I dont have a Turbo Timer on the EVO.

and for a boost controller the electric ones are all expensive and again you dont need it go spend like $75 for a manual one and youll be good to go

Electronic you adjust boost in the car on the go and costs from $300-$600+ a MBC you have to get out pop the hood and turn a screw to adjust the boost and ranges from $30-$150. The $150 is a incar MBC it routes the VAC line so you can have the screw in the pit with you. Keep in mind once your boost is set you wil hardly ever need to change it again

go manual, most people, like yourself, dont need an electronic one and it is slightly more complicated.

Its not necessary if it has the stock turbo.

Jeff is right...you do not need a turbo timer on the stock turbo. The T-25 is water cooled and no oil cooled so it is fine. HOWEVER, letting your car idle for a few seconds (usually between 15-30) is a good idea.

As for the boost controller it goes either way. With the stock turbo I wouldn't spend the money on an electronic one. A manual one will do you just fine. With electronic ones you don't just dial in a number and hit the pedal, you have to deal with a few numbers like gain, boost, and something else. Sorry I don't have one, close friend did and he was constantly tuning it. Good luck and have fun with that GSX...its a good model (97-99)!
