vibration at high speeds
I let my PSG borrow my car for a week and I had to drive about 50 miles to a doctors appointment last night. On the way there and back the speed limit changes from 55 to 75. At 60 mph everything is good, but at 70 and above there is a weird vibration in the steering wheel. It isn't a constant vibrationn like worn ball joints, but it will vibrate for a second, pause for a few seconds, vibrate, pause, and repeat until I slow my speed. The increase in speed from when it presents itself causes the vibration to occur more frequently, but there is still a pause. I have never felt anything like it before. It feels like a rim is dented, but at a few hundred revolutions a minute, there is still a pause in vibration. Any ideas? Thanks guys

What condition are your tires in? Maybe they need to be balanced?

RE: vibration at high speeds
Check balance and alignment. Also, check the lugs!

RE: vibration at high speeds
Tires are good, about 80% tread on them. I just had them put on about 3-4000 miles ago. I'll check the lugs and alignment though. Is there anything else that could cause it to vibrate with pauses? I can't think of a good way to explain what it feels like. Kinda like going over rumble strips. I'll vibrate, then pause, then vibrate, then pause.. and just keep repeating. I crawled underneath it, but don't see anything damaged. Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it. I'm just trying to narrow it down. I don't have the time to check everything, nor the money to get it professionally checked. Thanks again

Puttin my money on a bad hub.

Is your car awd?

RE: vibration at high speeds
I haven't banged up the rims, but who knows what he did. Yeah brother its AWD are you thinking driveshaft problems?

Try checking the carrier bearings and check your u-joints.
