water in summer?

quick ques....Is it ok to run straight water instead of a 50/50 mix in the summer in my 4g63? I usually run water with water cooler in the summer and 50/50 mix in the winter.

Also, i know this off subject but what do you guys think of engine treatments? I use Mobil 1 sythetic with slick 50 synthetic engine treatment. Is this a good idea???

antifreeze is also a LUBRICANT, which means run 50/50 ALL YEAR LONG

It is absolutely not okay to just run water. First of all, just water will damage the coolant passages by kind of rusting them.
Second, coolant raises the boiling temperature of water, which allows it to get hotter without boiling.
Third, if you DO use just water, youll have to refill it constantly because since its just water it will evaporate, and empty out your coolant supply very quickly. Over heating an engine is Very Bad.

Its a big no no to run straight water, but I did last summer for a couple of months b/c water pump was leaking. Didn't really do anything damage wise though.

For engine additives, dont waste your money. All the additives you need are already in the new oil when you put it in.

Just making sure, are you guys talking about antifreeze? I am a little confused on the subject.

yeah. coolant/antifreeze....it comes in the same bottle.

but yeah...actually if you were to just run water in your engine, summer would be the WORST time to do it, because of how hot it is.
