What belt is it? Or is it a belt?

Hey guys. Everytime i turn on my car it sqeaks for a good sec. or two. I have no idea what belt it is. I tried tightening down my alternator belt, but no luck. Still the same sqeak. But awhile back, I had my harmonic balancer changed because it was loose. While my mechanic was on it he changed... i think the ac belt and the alternator belt. not sure if this helps. But do you guys know what it could be?
By the way, it doesnt matter if its hot or cold outside, it still does it.

Do any of the belts feel loose? if you want to tighten the alternator belt you need to loosen the adjustment bolts first... there is one on the bracket, and one more on the very bottom towards your down pipe. You a/c belt tensioner is right above your upper timing cover, a little below the intake manifold.. There is a bolt on the bottom and a bolt on top.. 10mm if that helps... then there is the adjusting screw above that. I think the alternator is 12mm... hope that helps bro...

Thanks man, appreciate it. Will check today.

Is it the same way on the 4G63 turbo engine? I have not looked yet, but just wandering.

Can you see the "tighteners" from here?

if you look at the power steering pump in this picture
http://members.shaw.ca/dsm.1000q/Eng...mer/2G/alt.htm
it has the same configuration of bolts as the a/c tensioner... one at the top that loosens and slides and the bottom one to pivot on. The alternator is the same way, but you have to loosen the screw bolt (used to push the alternator towards the radiator and tighten the belt)
The a/c tensioner is located below the strut tower brace on the driver's side in this picture

Squeel while turning is likely to be caused by a loose power steering belt- NOT the alternator belt. Try shooting it with a silicone spray to see if it goes away temporarily. If it does, adjust the PS belt or replace if neccesary. Good Luck!

It was actually the alternator belt. It only sqeaked for a sec or two only when i turned it on...
