if you want turbo that bad, my advice would be as always to guy a gst/gsx. they are cheap nowadays, practically the same price as youd get for selling your car, and you get a much stronger motor. If you spend $3000+ for turbo you are going to have a weak, unreliable motor that will hopefully be as fast as a stock gst/gsx. Most likely will never get much faster. If you cant imagine selling your car and have to have turbo id go with hahn over anything else. They will help you when (not if) you have problems, and are pretty good about that kinda stuff.

well unless i get the GSX, the motor is the exact same in the gs-t. and it's not like my engine will be stock forever, i do plan on upgrading all the internals eventually.

I think you are a little confused. Both the gst and the gsx have the exact same motor, the 4g63. You have a 420a motor, the same motor as a dodge neon. You could very well upgrade the internals as well, but plan on spending thousands. Then you will break your transmission because it wasnt designed for that much power. Upgrade that as well. Im not trying to be rude, just realistic.

Thank you for the informative post. I have been interested in this subject for all of 2two weeks now since picking up a used rs97 420a.
And you have confirmed what I was told my many. Do not turbonate the 420a without mods.....

So I did the next best thing and bought a new 420a.

Its just as reliable as any other motor. You shouldnt have any problems with it as long as you take care of it. Slapping a turbo on a motor that wasnt designed for one is asking for reliability problems, yea it can work, but you will go through many headaches and its just not worth it, in my opinion anyway

here is the only problem i have with this in my area you can buy a gs rebuild the motor for a turbo and put a hahn kit on it and stiil be about a grand under what the people that buy a gs-t/gsx and replace everything in the turbo kit anyways. everthing the hahun kit includes everone wants to relace on there gs-t/gsx so the inital turbo kit was put in the shead or whatever they did with it so you endup buying 2 kits when i could have a new motor and a brand new kit that most people are trying to upgrade theres to anyways.

i, agree w/ dsm, since money is not an option.... try gst/gsx. besides its more fun to mod. turbo aspirated engines. 420 a's are fun too, but the neons are taking advantages of most mods. for that engine. but hey, its your choice....we just want you to know that theres a better eclipse out there.
