01 Eclipse, Check Engine Light...Shuddering
 

Guys,my son has an 01 eclipse, 2.4, with 65,000 miles.He's got a check engine light andthe car is shuddering... diagnosis at autozone read "speed turbin sensor", or electrical problem. I changed the coil packs, the wires, andthe sensor, but still have the same problem...I alsocleared the computer . I guess I'll change the plugs next....does anybody know what else it could be? I'm an Olds and Pontiac guy and know nothing about these cars...I'm used to non-computer V-8's! Thanks for any help and info.

Try checking the throttle body sensor. Autozone peeps should have been able to tell you where that sensor is...[>:]

Thanks Wingo, I didn't have a problem finding the sensor...just not used to trouble shooting a car I have no experience with. Iasked on one of my Olds Forums about a Mitsubishi site and they recommended this...gotta love the web. I'm actually impressed how easy this was to work on the spark system! I work at a wrecking yard (mechanic work) for myside job...guess I'll find me a handful of 2.4 sensors, trying the "TB sensor" first!

Im kinda wondering what you found out if anything. I've (my fiances) got a '01 GS 2.4 also and its got the same thing going on. Took it to AdvancedAuto and they put the diagnostic puter on it, threw up P0135 and P0303 codes. I'm changing plugs tomorrow, and inspecting the wires, also trying some injector cleaner.
Seems like low rpms it just shudders/bucks like crazy. Mostly shifting into 2nd. Any luck with changing out the sensor?

I was wondering if you happend to know what those codes came out to be? I recall my car having the same issue and it ended up being my coilpacks that went bad. So if you check the code and it says either "cylinder 2 or 4 misfire" then its the coilpacks. Thats what it was for me.

Now if it is the coilpacks Autozone sells them for $110 ea which is a rip; but I had to buy one at the time. I ended up buying another one off a Dealer site I found for almost half the price. If your interested just shoot me a PM. If I dont happen to reply quickly its cause I dont visit this site that often so sorry in advanced. Hope your problem gets fixed soon!
