2000 Eclipse skips when accelerating
A friend of mine drives a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse (automatic). She hasn't had it serviced in over a year and there is a little over 100,000 miles on it. When the car is accelerating from a dead stop it skips for about 3-5 seconds. Also only when driving up hill from a dead stop the RPM's go too high, as if the car missed a gear. The RPM's will drop back down to normal once you take your foot off and re-apply the gas.
I'm thinking it might be the spark plugs. Has anyone had this problem or know what the problem is?
Thanks,
Jeff

is the SES light on? When did you change the plugs and wires last? they are due every 60k along with the t belt so if that hasnt been done DO IT or youll regret it but my guess is the plugs are your studdering problem. and the car may not want to shift right because it doesnt have the power to get you up hill in the next gear from the spark plugs being wasted
