Default Instrument Cluster - How To Remove ?

2001 Eclipse GT Convertible. Going to change the gauge faces but can't seem to figure out how to take the cluster out. I don't see any screws and nothing seems to unsnap. What's the secret?

you should just be able to pull back on the back of the cluster pod thing and it will kinda pop off. be careful not to lose any of the clips on there tho. you may need to spend a few minutes looking for them if they fall off. once you do that, you should see i think 4 screws holding the plastic gauge cover on. take those out and take the cover off, then you should be able to get to the gauge face from there. is your car a manual by chance?

It's an auto. I was figuring that you just pulled and it unsnapped. One question though, looking at that "pod" section, does the small part around the cluster snap off by itself or do you unsnap the whole big piece that included the smaller part around the cluster? Did that make any sense ?

i honestly cant remember, i havent done it in a couple months. if i had my car here at school id check it out and let you know. i was asking if it was a manual because i have a gauge face that im trying to sell, but its for a 5 speed and doesnt have the spot for the gear select display (PRND321)

edit: i believe there are 2 screws on the bottom of that inner piece? you take those out, pop out the inner piece, and then you should be able to pop the whole pod out. im not 100% sure on this, but i vaguely remember that

i dont know how much this helps. its the most detailed picture i could find. i believe all you need to take off is the inner piece and pod previously mentioned, then the meter glass and panel from the pic above. you dont take out the factory gauges, just put the new ones in on top of them
