Need spare key for Spyder
Anyone know where I can get a spare transponder key for my 03 spyder? The dealership only had 1 key(i bought it used) and if i lose it I'm screwed.

That's shytty the dealership should be able to order keys and they SHOULD have ordered a spare if they were ANY type of dealership.

I'd rather not pay a fortune at a dealership for a key. Can't complain much about the dealer that sold me my 03 GTS Spyder cause I got it for $15500 with only 15k miles on it and its in gorgeous shape!
Anyone buy one from an ebay store or other online place? |

RE: Need spare key for Spyder
My brother bought an older eclipse, a 2001, from the only dealership in our area. He also only received one key. His wife is related to a locksmith out of state who is sending him a pair of blank keys, but said that he'll need to have a local shop program the keys. The unprogrammed keyblanks are fairly easy to get, but if I can save him the programming fees, I'd love to do that. Is it possible to program these keys using a similar technique as the GM Passkey system, which requires you to have a functional key, or (lesser known) an hour of free time to force the computer to program the key? I'd rather deal with our local dealership as little as possible, the only good employees there are the mechanics. everyone else seems a bit crooked to me..
Thanks |

Only way I knew to do it is by having the dealer program it. They also told me that you have to have a key sent specifically made for your vin number. Cost about $90 all together for key and programming.
