sunroof issues

trying to get an idea of where to start looking on the sunroof problem. Just got my son a 2000 Gt and the sunroof doesnt open. I checked the tiny fuse on the side of the dash and its good. When you push the button, it makes a slight and faint click at the switch, but nothing else. It will do it each time you press the button. Is there another fuse somewhere, or should i start troubleshooting it somewhere else? Any ideas?

sunroof problems are pretty common, on mine i push the button and the roof my move ever so slightly, then i can push it up to loosen it and then i pull the button back again and it will work, so in my case it just gets stuck alittle too much and the motor cant pull it back without some help. i know some people have replaced the sunroof motor which has fixed it but i do not know the price or anything on it. you could also clean out the tracks and lubricate them to see if that may help any

SOunds like the motor... but I believe if the radio fuse is bad it can cause this too... or the cigg lighter fuse...

well the radio still works just fine so i guess its not that fuse....but the cig lighter has been taken out for some reason, so i will look at that fuse today. Thanks for the suggestion

If you have read your service manual and tried the button withing the trunk compartment then i do not have any advice but if you have not this could be the problem it its switched to manual.

i dont have a service manual so i cant do what you are referring to. So there is a way to switch the sunroof to manual? And there is something in the hatch area that does this? I have no clue as to what or where you are talking about, so if you could please tell me i will look and see if this fixes my problem. Thanks

Many people are facing this problem of Mitsubishi Lancer 2005–2008 sunroof issues, and even the local dealer Dewan Motor doesn’t have a solution. You might want to look into sunroof services that specialize in repairing or fabricating replacement parts. Anyone help on it? I need to fix it.

It’s likely the anti-pinch feature being triggered. Clean and lubricate the tracks with silicone spray, check the seals for debris or swelling, and try resetting the sunroof by holding the close button for about 10 to 20 seconds until it cycles open and closed. If it still stops and retracts, the motor or sensor may need adjustment or replacement by a professional.
