ticking noise
 

My son's 2000 with the 2.4L has developed a ticking noise in recent weeks. I come from the atv world and know the ins and outs of most overhead cam four stroke motors. Needless to say, I don't know much about this car. I'm willing to grab a manual and tear into it if its thought that the problem could be taken care of by a DIY'er. It sounds like lifter/rocker arm type ticking. Oil level and pressure seem normal. Would love to hear any info you might have on this.

Its the lifters, you can either just replace them w/ the revised lifters or try an oil additive and hope for the best.

definitely the lifters, the 4 cyl 3rd gen's are notorious for that. mines done it for about 2 years now. it wont really hurt anything, just annoying
