Default Wet spot at driver side mat ('03 RS)

I'd always noticed a wet spot underneath the driver's side mat for sometime, until I the mechanic who replaced my compressor told me that it was the A/C drainpipe that needed relocation (which he did), as he said that this is a common problem with the Eclipse. I thought that the problem had been solved, but somehow the damp smell is still there (not a coolant smell though). It has been 2 weeks since the drainpipe was moved, and somehow the problem got worse. Today the humidity has caused the windows to fog up inside, and the floor mat itself is wet (the wet spot is right underneath the pedals, in the middle of the floor mat). It has been raining quite a bit the past couple of days, so I wasn't sure if somehow rainwater had come in through the drainpipe hole.

How is this possible? Any suggestions?
