i have the same problem.. my rear speakers are rounds and everywhere i check they are supposed to be 6x9s... i just replaced the rounds with some Kenwood Excelon PBO Fiber cone rounds (I forget the size) Rounds are supposed to be better than 6x9s anyways...
Actually you could prolly go to a junk yard and pull the 6x9 brackets off a wrecked Eclipse. Prolly wouldn't cost you much of anything. I know my GSX has the 6x9 in it. Maybe it's only the ones with the Infinity system in it.

same problem with my old eclipse. i bought infiniti 6X9 which is what the manufacturer and everyone (well, circuit city) tell me it's suppost to be.... well, the infiniti's were too deep and they went right up against the rear wheel well. I never solved the problem b4 i sold the car... haha, i guess i'm just sharing stories.
So if you buy the 6x9 adapters out of a gsx then this should allow you to place 6x9's in correct? I have a set I am looking at for $20. if this is the case I will get them and upgrade mine. I have a GS model. Thanks. By the way what are the front speaker sizes in the doors.
