error code on infinity system

error code on infinity system
i have a 2000 galant with the infinity stereo system; it was working fine until just recently whenmy cd player would accept my cd but then spit it back out and display an error code: E 01
occasionally it will play for a little while then stops and displays the error code again.
i tried using a cd cleaner, but it spits that out too!
my radio is working fine btw.
how serious (or not) is this?
any help will be appreciated!
