Default replacing factory head unit

Does anyone know if there is a way to utilize the in-dash display when replacing the factory head unit? I tried a search with no luck on several BBs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing you'll be able to utilize it for is the clock!

I found this thing that supposedly can be programmed to utilize the steering wheel controls. Anyone have any idea if it's worth the effort?

These work really well. You wont be able to utilze any of the original displays for the radio. It only controls the functions of your new head unit. Volume, Channel, Bass, Treble, etc...

I've never seen anything that will allow you to use the factory displays.
