Software Band expand
 

Hi Folks,

I have a jap import outlander and the head unit radio only recieves FM bad 82-88. Here in NZ the FM band is up to 108. I've been told I need to buy a band expander but I don't believe it. Surely the head unit in the jap model is the same as the US and Euro models and the wider FM band can be unlock in software or button combos (press FM and eject while showing my left nipple! etc)

Am I placing too much faith in modern day part sharing or am I right in thinking its the same head unit/chip set?

Did you manage to find a solution? I have acquired an outlander 2006 map import and having same issue.
