wire gauge

so i need some wire for the ecu in my car and i cant find the right size. i got 18 gauge but its a little bit too big. i cant find any smaller though. thanks

are you sure? the wires arent even a 18 though...i bought some 18 today and im thinking mine are either 19 or 20. does the gauge not matter?

im already done now i found some spare wires that were the same size but i needed them for my ecu.
