2005 Mitsubishi sportsback?

so been shopping around for a mitsubishi Lancer and I came across a lancer wagon. It said it was a 2005 sportsback.

As I tried to research it I could never find a 2005 mitsubishi sportsback. I was lead to alot of American sites that basically said there was no such thing. Trying to find information about australian and japanese versions proved difficult. Living in New Zealand these are more likely where the vehicle has come from.

So now I come here. Is there a japanese or Australian realase of a 2005 mitsubishi sportsback?

if there is no 2005 version what years was the version released. This way I can get a rough idea what this guy might be selling.

Thanks in advance.

There was never a sportback (no s in the middle) released in the U.S. as far as I know. It was sold in Japan and Canada as well as other markets but not the US so they don't think it was real.
Wiki has some good info.

Basically it has better suspension and a slightly better motor with a little more room and a little more weight than the regular version.
The latest version of the sportback is different that the 2005 as it is a hatchback not a wagon.

They have been sold here in the USA.
I've seen several - and there was mention of a few on here, also.
Yes, they are rare - but it's a Lancer wagon, to put it simply (if not accurately.)
At least here in the USA, I highly doubt it was any different from the Lancer at the time, other than being a quasi-hatchback/wagon.

Well I did say as far as I know. I was told they were not released in the US but obviously I was wrong. It has been a while but I do remember being told the springs were different in the back do to the possible extra cargo and it had more power than a base model. But it was a salesman who told me so he could have been full of it.
