Buying an Eclipse

Hi there! I am about to buy my first Eclipse and I am hesitating! I really like the one that is 2001 year (3th generation), because its newer and it looks better, but a friend of mine told me, that it is heavy, it brakes a lot and doesnt run that good. He recommended me the one from 99 year (2nd generation), which is made in Japan.

Actually the 3rd gen is more reliable (and made in Japan), your friend doesn't have a clue.

The 1990-1999 (1st and 2nd gen) were all made in Normal, Illinois... and are very hard to maintain properly.

EDIT: Next time make a thread in the right section, rather than just asking your question where ever.

The maintenance and dependability also depend a lot on the model and how it has been maintained over the years. If it has not been maintained any vehicle could be a nightmare.

Turbocharged DSM's (1990-1999) are especially intolerant of cheap ass owners, or poor maintenance. They MUST have premium fuel, and they MUST get synthetic oil. How many cheap ass owners out there would actually put those essentials in their vehicle? Maybe 20%.

Actually, i find it very rare that many at all 2g owners put anything cheap and half ass on our beloved dsm's!!! Maybe if they're young and careless, but as we all know, we put way to much blood, sweat and tears into our cars to go anywhere near the cheap, lazy, half-ass'd path!!! Get your facts on tract!!!
