Default 2002 ecu in a 2001?

Hey guys so I'm having a couple issues with my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse gs with p0335 and p0340 codes. It has an engine from a 2001 Eclipse gs, and I was wondering if the ecu from a 2002 would work in a 2001 with no issues. Or how your could get one to work in a 2001. Please help and thank you all!

i dont see any reason why an ecu from an 02 wouldnt work in an 01. unless one of them is Cali Spec. There were 2 types of setups made for these cars (cali spec, fed spec) due to emmissions. There may be a difference in those ECU's. But other than that i dont see a problem with the interchangability

The one thing I know is the changed stuff up between the 01 and the 02 models.. And I don't believe my vehicle is cali spec..

If it is a V6 engine you may need to swap the distributor from the old engine. I have seen this problem. If its a 4cyl engine, there is a part on the back end of the camshaft you can swap. I can explain futher if needed. I'll check back.
