2005 Outlander stalls after battery change
#2
Solved: I kept the engine at 1000 rpm for half an hour with throttle pedal, and now it runs smoothly at 700 in idle.

The throttle body needs cleaning. When the battery is disconnected the ECU looses its positioning reference for the throttle flap. During normal use the flap never shuts fully, and behind it a build up of deposits accumalate.
when the flap returns to full zero after battery change the flap gets stuck on these deposits and it cant adjust the idle speed.
Keeping the revs up for a period can help clean them away, but in a workshop enviroment that is not practical. Thats where the cleaner saves time

It's possible that your Outlander's engine control unit (ECU) needs to be relearned after the battery replacement. One way to do this is to let the engine idle for about 10-15 minutes after starting it up, without turning on any electrical components like the air conditioning or headlights.
or there may be an issue with the idle control valve or the throttle body. These components can sometimes get dirty or malfunction, causing the engine to stall at idle.
