Default 2g lower IC piping alternatives

I have a 2g GST and the lower IC piping was routed underneath the car. I was thinking of using a flexible type of piping like the one the comes off the stock turbo, so it can compress when I hit speed bumps and such. And was thinking of putting a metal sheet over it a little so the ground doesnt scratch it up. Would using a smaller piping 2" over a longer distance effect the flow that much? I just plan to use the flexible piping where the piping goes under the car

How is the lower IC piping normally routed?

that is an f'd up setup. Is this on a stock IC? Wait why is it going to the right side of the car. This makes no sense at all. It must be a FMIC. Those still dont have to go like that. Check out Dejon Powerhouse they have some kits and they go nicely behind the IC

Yeah the setup seems pretty custom and half assed. It came with the car, looks like the guy got some generic intercooler and did his own piping. All the other piping seems solid and flows pretty nicely (not much bends). Thejoint in the picture is the pipinggoing straight down from the turbo 2" to the3" IC pipe to the intercooler, and then back up to the intake. I found out the guy put tape on the 2" diameter part to letthe 3" to 2 1/2" connector grab tighter. Whichwas the weak link, kept on coming off. So trying to fix that right now. I got some 2" flexible piping that comes off from a 1gintercooler, so I think Ill use that at the joint where its most likely to hit the ground. And put a metal sheet to keep it form getting scratched, but still allowing it to compress when I go over bumps. Pretty crude fix til I can get a IC setup that was actually made for this car. Sorry not really mechanically inclined esp with turbo stuff so dont know if its a FMIC setup or not

wikipedia'd FMIC and yeah I guess it is a FMIC setup. Intercooler in huge and in the front opening of the bumper. It actually goes 5" higher than the grille opening in the front bumper. Was thinking of cuting a bigger hole and give it that new evo grille look to make use of the huge IC they put in
