RE: 99 ECLIPSE SYSTEM ERROR

either your gettin to much air or to much gas. Do you have aftermarket intake? Or any fuel mods. Another thing that causes that is your O2 sensors. You should have an upstream and a downstream. Check both of them out to see if they are defected. ( they are in your exhaust pipe.)

o2 sensors maybe bad...do a tune up

please shut off caps lock too lol.

as for therunning lean that means it is getting more air and not as much fuel. rich means to much fuel and not enough air I guess that is the easy way to describe it.

I still say do a full tune up on the car.

P0171- is a lean code from your first O2(bank 1)
Mostly caused by a intake or exhaust

P1390- is the G-Sensor Intermittent Low Voltage, I believe that has to do with your ABS
I think one of you wheel sensors, not sure which wheel

P1494- I belive is a emmissions code
This is a hard one just because I really don't know what exact emmission it is

You might have to bring it to a dealer or a mechanic to really check it out, theres only so much I can do online....but good luck.

RE: 99 ECLIPSE SYSTEM ERROR

RE: 99 ECLIPSE SYSTEM ERROR

where r the 02 sensors located and can they be cleaned or do i have to replace them.

You should have an upstream and a downstream. Check both of them out to see if they are defected. ( they are in your exhaust pipe.) And you can not clean O2 sensors. You have to get new ones. It's not hard to do that at all. Look at your exhuast. You'll see something sticking out of a hole. It'll have 2 wires on it... Thats your O2.

I think if it was an ABS sensor then his ABS light would come on right? Unless it is on and he didn't tell us that, haha

I just did a quick search online for the code and it came up as "wheel speed sensor -1"

Just for future referance

http://www.2g nt.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=8

Remove space between "2g" and "nt" for the link to work, but that is a collective list of all of the error codes for the 2gen non turbo eclipse

Check your fuel filer it may be restricting flow, also I would replace the 02 sensors on the car, their kinda expensive, 2g nt.com has a account with a dodge/mitsu dealer in AZ, they can give you a bit of a discount on oem parts like o2 sensors.

Like I said I wasn't sure if that was it, those were off the top of my head.....plus the ABS light you're talking about is a "Idiot Light" which doesn't mean it will come on for every problem. Inform me, whats does a wheel speed sensor contribute to when the speedometer is reading of the tranny.........hmmmm lets think, that car doesn't have traction control. Which thats not even the right code I found out from a friend anyway.........it is a timing issue.

so inform me am i on the right track on getting my timing belt moved to the correct location to put my motor in time, because it i dont tkink it was put on right the first time, when i go to a stop sign the car wants to die sometimes and i have to give it gas to keep the rrrs up.

The timing marks..........If you don't know what they are just bring the car back to the dealer you bought it from or go to a mechanic.
