Changing waterpump on 420a
As the title states I am soon going to be changing the waterpump on my 97 eclipse RS (420a) and wondering if anyone else has done this. I have the tech manual for the car but I know there are always little tricks and things to watch out for. Also, I have the tool to lock the camshafts in place but should I be needing any other special tools. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I have also posted this in the Eclipse section in case anyone mentions it.

RE: Changing waterpump on 420a
there isnt any tool to hold the cams in place (at least from mitsu). unless you're referring to the kent-moore tool, which is for the turbo cars.
you need a special tool to remove and reinstall the crankshaft damper (no, you CANNOT just use a hammer).
setting up timing is harder on the 420a than any mitsu engine, as the timing marks (located on the back of the timing cover) are harder to see, and in general a bit more vauge.
the timing belt in general is quite a bit harder than any mitsu engine due to lack of space and excessively long motor mount bracket bolts.
