I think your caps button is stuck down, here is a little pic that may help you with that problem

Now for the back fiing and what know try changing the plugs and wires.

Backfire out the exhaust or out of the intake? Could be a sticking choke, a vacumn leak, or an idle control value.

Its most likley going to be out the exaust, its an efi motor, the only efi motor that I have seen back fire out the intake was a ls1(really short intake runners) and it was spraying a huge dry shot. The back firing is caused by excess fuel exploding out side of the exaust valves. That can be atributed to bad spark or bad o2 sensors. O2 sensors need to be heated before they work right, but plugs and wires are cheaper thats why I recomened replacing them first. Insuficent spark is the cause of many problems.

Thanks for the help, I replaced the plugs and wires in Jan however I will get and intermittent CEL 11 which is the oxygen sensor but currently the CEL is not on. So it looks like its time to spend the 90.00 for a new one.

Thanks again

PS I dont see and CAPS in the first post?????

$90 for an 02 sensor?! thats overpriced. You should be able to get one for maybe $50.

No expert here, but I thought that CAPS meant the words were all capitalized. It looks like he increased his font size
