Default Electronic Throttle Valve

Hi all, wondering if anybody can shed some more light on a problem I'm having with my Montero 1.8GDi. I get an error on my dash which diagnostics describe as a problem with the Electronic Throttle Valve Motor 1.
Do I need a complete ETV (£1,000!!) or can the 'Motor 1' be purchased seperately.
This is apparently a common problem???

Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Electronic Throttle Valve

Wow, we don't have any cars or suv's in the U.S. with GDI...Except for the mondo expensive BMW and Mercedes Benz V12's. I'd imagine you can buy the motor seperately though, installing it may be a problem if you're not into electronics. The best thing to do is get the part # for the motor, and do a part number search online. Currently, i'm not aware of any websites that lists equipment for non-U.S. engines, but i'm sure there are some sites out there. If worse comes to worse, ask the dealer to look up the part #. If the dealer says "you need to purchase the entire ETV", you should check with your local shop and see what they say. Chances are though, the motor will not be cheap. I hope this helps you a little, and good luck.
