i recently bought a 2001 eclipse, gt. when i was testing it today i noticed it makes a hissing sound when it hits 35000 rpms in first toi third gear. i thought it was the air filter so i bought a new stock one.. still makes hissing sound. only makes sound when i floor it. if i pick up the rpms slowly it usually doesnt make sound. i have to floor it. also when the sound hits it seems to loose some power. everytthing in the car is stock. does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be. cause i cant figure it out. car only has 45000 miles

 

wow 35,000 rpms is a lot. i can only go to 7000. Theres probably a hole or some loose hose in your intake path thats bypassing air and making a hissing sound.

 

hmm i guess i got a lil happy with the zeros huh. thanks for the input i figured the problem out. it was the INTAKE. some loose screws. good thing i checked it before i took it to the shop
