I think its the clutch, but not too sure
Hello, I just bought an 03 gt 5 speed, completely stock. I went to the drag strip last night, best time was 15.5 at 90, couldn't get good traction, 60 ft. time was 2.4. after a few runs i let the car cool off, then ran again about 40 min. later. the car launched good but slipped pretty bad when i shifted into 2nd. so i got off of it and cruised through the rest of track. i got on it after that and everything is fine until about 4500 rpm, it stops pulling and starts slipping. i would think that it would slip right when i would launch it if it were the clutch, correct me if i am wrong though. tell me what yall think.

Nope the clutch may not slip until higher rpms where the max power is. It definetly sounds like thats your problem.

i guess i'll bring it to mitsubishi, it has a little over 30k miles on it, so it is still under warranty. hopefully they will do something about it.
