I have a haunted car, I swear. 1993 eclipse gs 2.0 non turbo
Driviing one day last year, shut the car off, went to start it and boom....only cylinders firing were 1 and 4....
fooled with the car, checked a bunch of stuff, all the sudden it was running fine, then again a few months ago it happened again, driving it, running fine, went to start it....same problem.
popped the hood, scratched my head, climbed in and it started fine untill last week....my kid drove it to school, came home, shut it off....went out about 1/2 hour later...same thing....
Now it sits in the garage and these are the things i have done
Replaced the ecu
Replaced coil
Replaced power transitor
Replaced cam sensor
Replaced plugs and wires
checked all vacuum lines
checked connections
I have done everything i could possibly do to this car, everything is new
i checked for grounds with a tester
tested wiring from coil to transitor...to ecu....Tested all connections i could thing of

I really need to help on this one, i prolly forgot some other things i have done...
Anyone ever heard of this before?

Did you check the grounds for either the coil pack, or check the coil pack for power?

 

is that going to cause no spark?


I mean we have litterally no spark on the plugs at all

 

did you check for voltage anywhere?

 

not sure what you mean... we have sprk on plugs 1 and 4 2 and 3 do absolutly nothing....no voltage at all, if thats what you mean

 

well if m not mistaken isnt there 1 coil for 2 cyls so if one works from a coil and the other doesnt that wouldnt make much sence unless your wire is messed up

 

Check for voltage coming into the coil packs. All those parts you replaced, were they used parts?

 

I would check all of the leads comming off the ecu going to the coil pack, a wire or 2 could be shorting. Also pick up a Haynes manual for the car, that will give you a compleat diagram for the wiring.

 

see thats nthe thing, yes all the parts were new....replaced all them the second time this happened and no change......then one day the frikin car started...so i said cool....drove it...then last week it happened again...I am going out to check for voltage to the coils paks...yes there are 2 parts to this coil...one powers 1 and4 1 powers 2 and 3.....

yes i have 12 volts to both sides of the coil
even the 2+3 side which is the side not firing
