Installing an ECU

OK, I've finally found an ECU that I think i'm going to buy. [sm=happy046.gif]

Now i need to know how to install the piece. I understand that the old one is behind the glove box ('97 Eclipse GST). But my new worry is, does it need to be programed or can I just plug it in and drive off? Anyone replace there and have helpful tips on how they did it?

thanks for all the info.

RE: Installing an ECU

just plug and play my friend.. plug in the new one start the car let it idle for a few minutes then drive it..
.

Just unplug the battery before you do anything though (just common sence but some of us lack that lol)

RE: Installing an ECU

Thanks.

and i have to admit i lacked that once. tried to install a starter forgetting to unplug the battery. plus i even hooked up the starter wrong the first time too. so right as i went to put all wires back on the starter started to spin. freaked me out. I felt like an idiot lol.

That makes me really happy to hear its so easy. Saves me the big buck from having to take it over to Mitsu.
[sm=happy046.gif] <--i like this smiley. lol

You said that the ECU you thought was behind the glove box? My friend's got a '95 gst and his was behind his radio. but i can assume our makes are different set ups.
