Default AC drain hose

Hi,

The AC drain hose in my 2003 Galant is clogged and moldy water is pouring out under my glove compartment. The dealership wants to charge $400 to clean the hose. Other mechanics cannot find the hose. I'd like to just be able to access it myself and take care of it. As of right now, we cannot ride in the car because of the mold.

So where isthe hoseand how can I get to it? Has anyone else had this problem?

If you have pics of where to find it, that would rock!

Thanks in advance,
SM

Its that expensive because that hose is not easy to get to by any means. You have to remove the whole dash because its one of the hoses that connects to the heater core. So if you want to do it yourself go ahead. But 400 sounds worth it to me to not have to deal with that PITA

I'm having a similar problem with my Eclipse - someone recommended blowing compressed air up the drain tube and cleaning out the evaporator. May be the same for you.

We just did a cleaning of one of these on a 2003 eclipse, it is very hard to find, there is no hose sticking through the fire wall, it is almost flush with the wall. You have about 1 inch of space to get in there with a short piece of copper wire. It is in the area of where the steering column penetrates the fire wall. You have to jack the car up and do it from underneath or put it on a lift

Default water leak info (a/c floor)

Howdy, well today I did a lot of web surfing on the issue of water on the floor (driver side US) of a Galant. I found a few good references for not just Galant but other Mitsubishi models as well.

On my friends 2001 Galant I did locate the a/c drain tube. It sticks tru firewall a short 3/4" maybe on driver side just behind the motor mount and below the brake lines.

Here are two interesting reports on the subject in general. There are others if you search this forum and/or the internet you may get more opinions.

I found listed here: justanswer.com/uploads/superbovine/2010-07-04_012815_tsb09550021.pdf

and another at justanswer.com/mitsubishi/

hope this helps someone.. I am still working on my friends and have to test it. If I find good stuff I'll come back and share it...

drive safely
