Outlander cranks but wont start
 

We have an 2008 outlander v6 3.0L and it just died while driving. 4 codes came up, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, fuel volume regulator circuit high and throttle position sensor circuit low. It cranks but wont start and its not the regular sound either. So we have changed the crankshaft sensor and still not starting. But the code disappeared. There is no spark either. As I am writing this, I will check to see of there is any gas going. Also now when I put the key to "on" it does a ticking noise for a few seconds and stops. The time after it was a different noise when key is "on". It really sounds like the old printers that had the wholes on the side of the paper. We have checked relays its not that. Hubby noticed the egr valve is very hot, is that normal? I've spent 2 hours last night searching to see if someone has the same problem. I uave found some thread that were similar but the thread stops at some point without answers. We dont want to bring it to a mechanic as this car will be for sale, but if we have too we will. Trying to save some money. Anyone has any idea what it could be?
