No the "so called" performance chips do not do anything. All they are is a resistor. You can get one any any electronics store for about 20 cents. That is one of the biggest scams of all time IMO.

no no noGerman cars use real chips that do work but mitsus use piggy backs for the same type of thing, on a non turbo car it wont do really anything unless you have header(s) and a piggy back tuned.

The resistor thing doesnt work on any car that is a scam

i looked up on it a bit. It seems like an overkill for a mad in the begining. I doesnt seem like it would be useful for a N/A car

Can't you just send in your chip and get it reprogrammed by a tuner company?

The roadrace piggybacks are dyno'd at 27HP gain, but that's with an exhaust, short ram intake and downpipe.( based on the RA Lancer) As for the ES, I'm not sure. I went to talk to one of the guys who works there and I'm trying to make my car a little more powerful, especially in the lower RPM's prior to the "switchover" at 3000 to 3500 RPM's.
