power steering pump pulley?
ok, i just changed my powersteering pump on my 97 gs and i can feel a big difference in my steering. the problem now is that it squeels all the time. it can't be the belt because i changed that as well. could it possibly be the bearings in the pulley or the assy itself? and if i change out this pulley, would it have a special name so i can purchase a new one?

RE: power steering pump pulley?
If you don't have proper tension on the pulley, it'll squeal. But so will some new belts. give it a few miles before you go and spend any cash.

RE: power steering pump pulley?
thanks. i appreciate it. if it does persist on squeeling, what kind of tensioner am i looking at to buy. and it is for the powersteering pump belt.

RE: power steering pump pulley?
I am not too familiar with the 420a, so unless you have an automatic tensioner, it is usually adjusted by the mounting bolts on the pump. There are plenty of guys on here that are familiar with your power train, I am just not one of them. Hopefully one of them is listening.

RE: power steering pump pulley?
If you have AC, there's a tensioner located between the PS pump and the AC compressor below it. Not that there is an updated powersteering bracket AND tensioner pulley available (there's a TSB regarding this matter). The PS bracket is modified to provide better pulley alignment with the rest of the accessory pulleys. (FYI- the 420A is known to throw it's PS belt) The updated tensioner pulley is about 1/4 of an inch wider than the older pulley.
