Question regarding brakes on '03 Montero
 

Hi,
I just purchased an '03 Montero LTD (33K miles) The brakes have started squealing when I press them. At what mileage do the brake pads normally need replacing? Also, is this something that the dealer should have had fixed before I bought the vehicle?

It really depends on the driver that had it before. Whether or not they were hard on the brakes. Just take off your wheel and check.

33k is a little short for brake life but the way it was driven was a lot like racing to the next light kind of driving. Its all about draging from one light just to hit the brakes at the next. Also the dealer should have done something about it when they do their checks but now that you bought it they only care about taking more of your money to fix it. Bummer.
