should the car run with the batery disconected?

i have a 91 talon with a 4g63 2.0 non turbo motor in it. once the car is runing should the car be able to run without the batery conected? mine wont, so does that mean my new alternator is bad?

if you mean u disconected the positive terminal then yes, it should run w/o it once the car has been started. and if it doesn't you do need an alternator.

Thats exactly right. You might have big ass power issues though since the spark wont be that great. The stock alternators are **** so i wouldnt be suprised if it didnt run without the battery. If i was you i would have it tested. You can do it yourself its not all that hard. Just measure the output of power with a multi meter
