Starter engages when clutch pedel is depressed?

I just purchased a 97 GSX and just today this issue cropped up.. I'm not sure what could be causeing this behavior. I can reach under the dash and just push the pin/button, which is usually depressed by the clutch pedel, under the dash and the starter engages, even without the key in the ingition. Any suggestions? I've heard of relays going bad, if so anyone know where this relay is? Thanks in advance for all your help.

RE: Starter engages when clutch pedel is depressed?

It could be a stuck relay. The relay should be in one of the boxes under the hood. The cover will tell you which one is the starter. You might also check for a loose wire on your ignition switch. You might have to remove the steering housing to check.
