I read many posts these days but I have a newbie question:
What does the engine code mean? Like some engines are 420A, some are 4g63.....
I know they are different types of engines. But what excactly are they?
My car is a 99 Eclipse RS I4 2.0L. Is it a 420A or A588?

every engine has a code from its manufacturer, they usually have some meaning, like my 3000GT is a 6G72, i know the 6 stands for V6, but i dont know about the G72, My old sentra had an SR20de, the "20" standing for the 2.0L engine, my delSol Vtec was a B16A3, the "16" standing for the 1.6L, get it , so if you have the 2.0L eclipse i would assume that your code would be the 420A, due to the
2.0L 4 cyl. I dont know jack about eclipses though, so i could be wrong, but my answer makes sense to me.

4G93 - Four cylinders gasoline engine 1.8 l
4G63 - Four cylinders gasoline engine 2.0 l
