jesus drives an eclipse.

what you need, is a mechanic.

Unfortunately, there are way too many things that could cause this and you don't have enough information for a solid theory. I would start with a code reader to see if there are any error codes, even if the engine light is not on. Does anybody here know if there is a way to pull engine codes without a reader, like on the older GMs?
If not, it could be that a sensor is going out and is reporting the wrong data, but not enough to trigger a code. It could be an ignition coil or spark plug that works fine at idle, but can't handle higher RPMs. Maybe clogged fuel injectors or a weak fuel pump.
It may take hours of testing sensors and cleaning components to find the problem. So, I think Akzle is right, you need a mechanic.
But try the code reader first.
