Apple CarPlay and iOS 26

Owner of a 2025 Eclipse Cross with CarPlay here. Since iOS 26 came out, my display screen has not changed in my car. I have tried Apple and non-Apple branded USB cables. I thought the phone would automatically update the software/display that came with the car. I can add and remove icons and continue to play music but can’t get the display to change to iOS 26’s. Any suggestions?

I've seen an article that mentions that there are other vehicles that don't have noticeable differences when it comes to the widgets. maybe that's the case for yours too
