Default Bay Area Lancer Evo quest...

My employer (Davis Instruments)is working on a OBD II compatible device (Car Chip) and we're finding it has a problem with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, MY 2003.

We have tried locating a car to rent for a day in order to trouble-shoot this problem but have been unsuccessful.

Is there anyone out there in the bay area (we're located in Hayward, CA) that would be willing to -- under your supervision -- allow us to hook up a digital scope and examine the OBD II bus traffic to try to understand why the Lancer is incompatible?

No big problem: Just that while the device is connected to the car's OBD II port, the speedo needle doesn't move. As soon as the device is removed the speedo resumes its normal behavior with no ill-effects.

The assumption is that in querying the 'car' with a general data request, this consumes the speedometer miles per hour reading that would otherwise be sent to the speedo.

If you are interested, and wish to learn more, call Maruthi at 510 732 9229, x3374.

Sincerely,

Rocky
