Can you fit a turbo on an 4A91 (1500cc I4) engine?
 

I have a Lancer EX 2009 (bought in 2012) from the dealer here in Jordan. The car is fantastic in every way, but I desire a little more power. Although I originally planned to get a 4B10 engine (1800cc I4) the dealer only had the 4B11 (2000cc) and no discounts on it as per 2012.

Anyway, the type does good fuel economy (I average about 10 km per litre in Amman, which is hilly and quite hot).

The problem we face in Jordan is twofold:

1. High Seasonal Temperatures
2. Hilly Landscape (in Amman)
3. Expensive Fuel/Low Quality Fuel

As such larger engines are encouraged with CVT to improve fuel economy but still have enough power for fuel economy. Although the 4A91 does an admirable job, it is still under-powered when the a/c is on & when we have four or five people in the car.

So, the obvious question is, can a turbo-fit improve performance?
