I have a 2001 Montero Sport 2WD 6Cyl 3.0L and am having a difficult time finding a catalytic converter and sensor for this as we failed a smog test and need to replace.

Don't want to go through a dealer as my son is quite good at repairing these type of items and just want to get the parts he'll need

Can anyone help with the purchase of these?

You only need one thread.

I suggest getting a universal catalytic converter and having a muffler shop weld it in.
