Mitsubishi Galant- reliable?

Hey. Im looking to buy a 98 mitsubishi galant from a used car dealer. It has 79,000 miles on it. What i really want from the car is for it to be reliable. I'm going to drive accross the country a couple days after i buy the car, so i need it to be on point.

Also, does anyone know if jeep wranglers are good cars? I've heard that they are and that they aren't. It looks like a fun car to have, but again, i need something that is reliable. I dont want my car breaking down in the middle of the nevada desert.

Thanks for the help

RE: Mitsubishi Galant- reliable?

jeeps are good. my buddy has one, hasnt had any problems other that forgetting the doors a time or two when the rain starts coming down. You know what a wet cat looks like... yeah, that was his wife after driving home 5 hours in the rain with no doors. very scary... but i doubt you want to drive the jeep across country. bad mileage would deffinately turn me off, plus it doesnt have much storage space. My buddy and wife usually take her galant on trips. But i dont know much about her car to tell you if they have had any probs with it.
